Eric Friedman Clinging on to Lead in Tight Mayoral Race; Remaining Ballots May Bring a Surprise

KEYT

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - No one is sure how many remaining ballots have votes for the mayor's post in Santa Barbara, but with the results now, you may not want to pop the champagne just yet.

After midnight, more than four hours following the close of the polls, the very close mayor's race in Santa Barbara got even closer.

It's now under 400 votes between leader Eric Friedman and second place finisher, Kristen Sneddon.

Friedman has 9,475 votes. Sneddon has 9,101.

Wendy Sims-Moten was a factor getting 1,185 votes.

The turnout was brisk on election day with many people packing the ballot drop boxes with their choices. A line was down the street at the county elections office all evening Tuesday.
