Ball and Mosby Face Off For Lompoc Center Seat Over City’s Future

LOMPOC, Calif. (KEYT) - Lompoc City Hall reached maximum occupancy last night as community members gathered for a nonpartisan candidate forum featuring contenders for mayor, City Council and the local school board.

The initial portion of the event focused on the Lompoc Unified School District Board.

Candidates discussed key matters affecting local students and educators, including classroom use of state funding, school infrastructure upgrades and student performance.

The mayoral contest features incumbent Mayor James “Jim” Mosby and 4th District Councilmember Jeremy Ball.

Ball is centering his campaign on transforming the leadership culture at City Hall, emphasizing a collaborative atmosphere to improve long-term development, attract investment, update city operations and foster regional cooperation.

In contrast, Mosby emphasized fiscal conservatism and municipal independence, highlighting public fund oversight, reducing business regulations and focusing on vital infrastructure projects.

Additional candidates across all panels addressed inquiries regarding housing, infrastructure, community safety and economic growth.

Mail-in ballots have been sent to voters and election officials encourage early returns to maximize the time needed for tabulation.
