One805 Benefit Concert Rocks Out the Central Coast for a Good Cause
CARPINTERIA, Calif. (KEYT) – Local non-profit, One805, has lots to celebrate after wrapping another successful year of their annual benefit concert over the weekend, hosted right here on the Central Coast.
Born following the devastating Montecito mudslides in 2018, One805LIVE! brings together musicians, actors, community leaders and members, all in support of our first responders. The non-profit says first responders are the backbone of the Central Coast, and all the funds raised ensure they are fitted with the proper equipment and support.
Each year, Kevin Costner's oceanside estate transforms into a major entertainment venue, large enough to fit hundreds of attendees. This year got even bigger however, expanding to a two-day event with a star-stunned lineup of performers. Featuring The Temptations, George Thorogood, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Slighty Stoopid, and more.
One805 organizers say the expanded schedule allows for first responders to get the recognition they deserve.
"We are a community non-profit. So what we want to do is have our first responders around us – Search and rescue, cottage hospital, paramedics – all of our first responders have recurred, or are with us with us over the last two nights, and we could make that possible by the fact that we did for two nights." said One805 co-founder Kirstin Weston-Smith.
News Channel's John Palminteri and KCLU's Lance Orozco also received Heart of the Community award Friday evening for their work covering both the Thomas Fire and Montecito mudslides.
One805 have established a new Endowment Fund, ensuring the first responders and their families receive support for their mental health for as long as their need it.
"That money will go to the first responder mental wellness program, in perpetuity. So when all of us go, and we hang up our clogs, they can still continue with their programming."
