Peak heat for Wednesday, mild conditions for the weekend

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The region will experience peak heating today with highs 5-10 degrees above average for this time of year. The marine layer will be on the weaker side and confined to the coasts and Santa Barbara county. As the morning progresses, the marine layer will dwindle quickly and we can expect clear, sunny skies.

A weak ridge of high pressure is near the region, bringing warm conditions. Offshore flow coming from the East and North will be consistent this morning, pushing the clouds out of the region, before turning back to onshore flow late this afternoon. Temperatures today will be in the 80s and 90s across the region, so be sure to stay hydrated and practice heat safety!

By Thursday, conditions will cool slightly. Temperatures will still be warm, but we will have made it through peak heating. A trough of low pressure over the PNW will allow the Central Coast to cool ever so slightly, along with onshore flow.

By Friday, the Central Coast will be in between the trough of low pressure over the PNW and a ridge of high pressure over Texas, allowing for great weather conditions just in time for the weekend.
