Buena High Teen Facing Felony Charge Related to Threatening Cat in the Hat Video

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 14-year-old is facing a felony after police investigated videos depicting the Cat in the Hat making threats towards their classmates at Buena High School.

On Sep. 14, officers received information about videos involving the Cat in the Hat character making threats towards students at Buena High School stated a press release Thursday from the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

According to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, investigators were able to determine the videos were connected to three Buena High students, two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old, and the trio were arrested in connection.

Only the 14-year-old's case has been submitted to the District Attorney's Office for prosecution detailed the local prosecutor's office.

The teen is currently scheduled to be arraigned at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center in Oxnard on a felony charge of conspiracy to threaten to commit a crime that may result in death or great bodily injury to another person or persons at a school and a misdemeanor count of making a criminal threat shared the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.
