Growing Pickleball Demand Brings Changes to Goleta’s Only Indoor Facility

PATRICIA MARTELLOTTI I KEYT

GOLETA, Calif. — Goleta's only indoor pickleball facility is changing how players can use its courts as interest in the sport continues to grow.

The facility formerly known as The Picklr Santa Barbara is leaving the national franchise and moving forward under local ownership as The Grove Pickleball.

The change also brings a different approach for players.

Required memberships are being phased out while more drop-in options are being added for people who want greater flexibility.

The shift comes as pickleball continues attracting players of different ages and experience levels across the Santa Barbara area.

Local players interviewed at the facility shared what keeps them coming back to the sport and why easier court access matters.

The Grove Pickleball operates at the Fairview Shopping Center in Goleta.

Owners hope the locally operated model will give them more flexibility to respond to what players in the community want.
