Fillmore Man Arrested Wednesday For March 2025 Shooting At Delores Day Park

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – On Wednesday, a 24-year-old Fillmore man was arrested in connection with a March 2025 shooting at Delores Day Park.

On March 16, 2025, around 8:35 p.m., a member of the community reported shots fired near the intersection of Goodenough Road and 4th Street stated a press release Thursday from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

One of the witnesses shared that a man had exited a vehicle and chased another vehicle moments before a gunshot was heard and deputies were at the neighborhood park within minutes of the initial report shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators confirmed that a shooting had occurred and were able to identify the suspected shooter as a 24-year-old Fillmore man with known ties to a criminal street gang detailed the local sheriff's office.

On May 8, 2026, detectives obtained a search warrant for the 24-year-old, his home, and his vehicle and on the following day they contacted him as he arrived at his work in Ventura noted the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, during the search, evidence was discovered that linked the 24-year-old to the March 2025 shooting including a stolen, loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun found underneath the driver's seat of the Fillmore man's vehicle.

He was arrested for weapons violations and then later released pending laboratory test results of the recovered firearm explained the local law enforcement agency.

The Sheriff's Crime Lab obtained additional evidence linking the firearm to the March 2025 shooting as well as the 24-year-old to the firearm noted the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

On Sep. 2, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the Fillmore man based on the recently confirmed evidence and he was located loitering at the Rancho Sespe Apartments around 4:28 p.m. the same day shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The local sheriff's office shared that the 24-year-old was booked on the following charges:

  • PC 246.3(a)-Discharge of Firearm with Gross Negligence
  • H&S 11370.7(a)–Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed with a Firearm
  • PC 25400(a)(1)–Carrying a Concealed Firearm in a Vehicle
  • PC 25850(c)(6)–Carrying a Loaded Firearm
  • PC 27545–Unlawful Firearm Transfer
