Santa Barbara Man Arrested Near Bohnett Park After Foot Chase Wednesday Evening

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – A 41-year Santa Barbara man was arrested near Bohnett Park for driving under the influence after a foot chase Wednesday evening.

On Aug. 19, around 6:28 p.m., dispatchers received a call about an unresponsive person seated in the driver's seat of a running vehicle in the 1100 block of San Pascual Street stated a press release Thursday from the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Arriving officers contacted the person, later identified as a 41-year-old Santa Barbara man, and were able to wake him shared the local law enforcement agency.

According to Santa Barbara Police, officers spotted signs that led them to believe the 41-year-old was impaired and the 41-year-old abruptly fled the scene on foot.

The 41-year-old jumped over several fences and entered multiple private properties during the foot pursuit and ultimately he was taken into custody in the creek bed near Bohnett Park detailed the Santa Barbara Police Department.

After an investigation of the scene, the 41-year-old was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and resisting arrest noted the Santa Barbara Police Department.
