Pedestrian Transported with Serious Injuries After Vehicle Collision on Coast Village Road

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – A man walking across Coast Village Road Sunday evening was hit by a vehicle and transported to Cottage Hospital with serious injuries.

On Aug. 2, around 9:50 p.m., local police received a report of a serious-injury traffic collision involving a pedestrian in the 1200 block of Coast Village Road stated a press release from the Santa Barbara Police Department.

First responders arrived at the scene to find an adult man unconscious in the roadway and he was provided emergency medical assistance at the scene before being transported to Cottage Hospital for further medical treatment detailed the Santa Barbara Police Department.

An initial investigation showed that a vehicle was eastbound on Coast Village Road when it struck the man heading southbound over the roadway noted the local law enforcement agency.

According to Santa Barbara Police, the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, cooperated with investigators, and DUI is not currently suspected as a factor in the collision.

Local police shared that due to the seriousness of the incident, the Traffic Investigation Unit is handling the still-open investigation.
