Scooter Rider Has Moderate Injuries After Collision With Vehicle on El Camino; Driver Detained After Fleeing the Scene

ATASCADERO, Calif. (KEYT) – A person riding a scooter suffered moderate injuries after a collision with a vehicle on El Camino Real Wednesday afternoon.

On July 22, around 5 p.m., officers responded to a reported traffic collision in the 7100 block of El Camino Real stated a press release from the City of Atascadero.

Officers were able to determine that the person riding the scooter had moderate injuries and that the driver of the involved vehicle had fled the scene on foot noted the local municipal government.

According to the City of Atascadero, officers located and detained the driver near the intersection of Curbail Avenue and San Luis Avenue and they were transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area as officers conduct their investigation into the incident.
