Beach Hazards Statement issued July 13 at 2:59AM PDT until July 15 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

* WHAT…Dangerous rip currents and breaking waves with elevated
surf expected. Minor coastal flooding possible. An isolated
lightning strike possible today.

* WHERE…Coastal areas and beaches of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa
Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties.

* WHEN…Through Wednesday evening.

* IMPACTS…There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats
nearshore. Lightning strikes can harm individuals.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Southerly swell combined with abnormally
high tides of 7.0 to 7.5 feet will bring the potential for minor
coastal flooding in low-lying areas in the evening.
Remain out of the water due to hazardous swimming conditions, or
stay near occupied lifeguard towers. Rock jetties can be deadly
in such conditions, stay off the rocks.

Seek shelter inside a fully enclosed building or car with metal
roof if lightning is in the area and wait until the lightning has
left the area.
