Congressman Carbajal react to Correspondents’ Dinner violence

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) Rep. Salud Carbajal shared his thoughts following the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting and cancellation.

The local Democrat was not at the event, but has been following what happened and the investigation.

While attending the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival he shared his thoughts.

"I was home here in the district, I"m glad everyone was safe, violence is never the answer, we must always remember that in politics it is also important to remember that words have consequences, so we need to always look how we can be civil and more respectful in our daily civic lives," said Carbajal.

Carbajal heads back to Washington, D.C. on Monday.
