OXNARD, Calif. (KEYT) – A 45-year-old man waving a machete, threatening bystanders, is in the hospital after an Oxnard Police Department officer-involved shooting.

OPD officers received calls about the incident just past noon on Monday about a man waving a machete near Saviers and Pleasant Valley Road inside a business.

The police officer who fired the shot at the 45-year-old is not injured and a police dog in the incident received treatment for minor injuries.

The OPD will share body-cam footage from the full incident at a later date and criminal charges are pending for the suspect.
