Reaction to President Trump's address appears mixed

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) Multiple screens at multiple businesses stayed on March Madness instead of President Donald Trump's brief Wednesday night address.

Some people said they didn't know about it others chose not to watch.

Mara Sullivan who lives in Santa Barbara said she finds politics toxic to watch.

A local educator on Spring Break heard part of it on the radio.

Mike Cregan thought it would be longer.

Emeritus UCSB Global Studies Professor Mark Juergensmeyer said the new Ayatollah is worse than the last and that stated goals are not being met.

"Whatever they have left of their nuclear capacity is deep underground and there is no way of getting that all we can do now is find a way to get out," said Juergensmeyer,

He said the Straight of Hormuz gives Iran the upper hand, not President Trump.

"He wants something on the Iranian side that they can tell him and he can say look we have got this concession from Iran now we can leave you see," said Juergensmeyer.

Recent comments at the pumps don't show cracks in president's  base.

Darren Cornea paid 50 dollars more for gas and didn't blame the president.

"I am not blaming Donald because we need a safe country, he had to go go what he had to do, if we pay a little bit more for the time being so be it," said Cornea.

But most voters ,regardless of party, don't want to see the war prolonged.

Your News Channel will have more reaction tonight on the new.
