Suspect charged with murder in Morro Bay deadly stabbing
MORRO BAY, Calif. - San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow announced that the suspect in the fatal stabbing in Morro Bay has officially been charged with murder.
Suspect Sean Christopher Maneely, 53, has been charged with second degree murder with the use of a knife for the death of Andrew Ignatius McTaggart on Jan. 25.
This murder charge is the result of an incident that occurred around 3:50 p.m. that Saturday in Morro Bay. The District Attorney's Office says Maneely fatally stabbed McTaggart in the chest during an altercation at the Morro Bay Self Storage.
Maneely appeared in court Friday morning. He did not enter a plea and the District Attorney's Office said he is scheduled to return to the San Luis Obispo Superior Court on Feb. 6 for further arrangements.
The case was investigated by the Morro Bay Police Department with the assistance of the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.
