Women’s March in Ventura Draws Hundreds Fighting for Reproductive Rights
VENTURA, Calif. — The nonprofit Justice for All Ventura County hosted its annual Women’s March in downtown Ventura on Saturday, drawing participants who marched under clear skies and brisk air, chanting and holding signs high.
This year’s theme, “Fighting for Their Future,” highlighted concerns about reproductive freedoms and women’s rights. Organizers emphasized the urgency of the moment, with many participants voicing a renewed sense of purpose.
“I feel a huge call to action this year,” one marcher said. “As someone nearing the end of my childbearing years, it’s extremely scary to me what we’re up against.”
Parents also took the opportunity to pass lessons on to the next generation. “It’s important to teach my daughter about how we can protect and work within our democracy,” one participant said. “I want to show her how strong women are when we come together.”
The march aimed to inspire collective action and foster a sense of community among those concerned about women’s rights. “Our goal was to jumpstart a new wave of resistance, encouraging people to get involved and make a difference in their communities,” an organizer said.
While the march in Ventura drew a significant crowd, it was part of a broader movement, with similar events held across the country, including one in nearby Carpinteria.
Chants of “No justice, no peace” echoed through Ventura’s streets as the marchers demonstrated their determination to continue the fight for equality and justice.
