Fire crews respond to seven separate vegetation fires along Highway 246 west of Buellton

BUELLTON, Calif. – Fire crews are responding to seven separate vegetation fires near the intersection of Highway 246 and Riverview Drive Thursday just west of Buellton.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the fires are estimated at 64 acres burned in total and the call time for fire personnel came in at 4:03 p.m. Thursday.

A single lane of westbound Highway 246 has been closed as part of the response with no estimated time of reopening detailed the California Department of Transportation District 5.

During the fire response, a vehicle collided with a parked fire engine along westbound Highway 246 shared the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The elderly woman driving the vehicle was transported to Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital by ambulance and no other injuries have been reported as part of the response explained the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is under investigation stated the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
