Teen killed in Oxnard shooting identified by authorities

Oxnard police continue their investigating into their 10th homicide of the year.

Authorities on Monday released the name of the teenager shot and killed in Oxnard over the weekend.

The teen was identified as Peter Morales, 17, of Oxnard, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. Morales died of a gunshot wound to the chest, and his death was ruled a homicide, coroner’s officials said.

It happened on Saturday around 10:45 p.m. on the 1700 block of Elsinore Circle.

When paramedics arrived they found 17-year-old Peter Morales, shot near a home in a cul-de-sac.

He was taken to the Ventura County Medical Center but did not survive his injuries. The city is offering a $10,000 reward.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Oxnard Police Department.
