Ventura police arrest suspect in stabbing death

Ventura police arrested 54-year-old Doyle Johnson, who they believe stabbed a woman to death Thursday night.

At around 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of a woman stabbed inside a house on the 1200 block of North Ventura Avenue. Upon arrival, they found a 58-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds to her upper body. Paramedics were called, and they took the woman to the hospital. She later died of those stab wounds.

Johnson was taken into custody only 20 minutes after the 911 call. Johnson was found by police around the woman’s house.

The identity of the woman who was killed has not been given until police can contact the next of kin.
