Two Ventura teens arrested in connection with social media video showing assault on homeless woman Thursday
VENTURA, Calif. – Two Ventura teens were arrested in connection with a social media video that depicted several juveniles assaulting a homeless woman in her sleeping bag on Thursday.
On Monday, Jun. 17, detectives with the Ventura Police Major Crimes Unit were made aware of a social media video showing several juveniles on e-bikes violently assaulting a homeless woman in a sleeping bag and then fleeing the area stated the Ventura Police Department in a press release about the arrests.
The juvenile suspects were eventually identified with the public's help shared the Ventura Police Department.
On Thursday, detectives executed search warrants at multiple locations and seized evidence, including e-bikes, as well as arrested two juveniles, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, both of Ventura detailed the Ventura Police Department.
The pair were booked into Ventura County Juvenile Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, and elder abuse explained the Ventura Police Department.
According to Ventura Police, detectives still have several open investigations regarding previous attacks involving a group of juveniles on e-bikes and are seeking additional information from the public.
