Above average temperatures and sunny skies Monday

Santa Ana winds keep temperatures around 10 degrees above average Monday. Highs will be in the upper 60s and middle 70s, so get outside and enjoy! No Wind Advisories are currently in effect, but keep in mind that winds could be just up to advisory thresholds and it will likely be a gusty and dry day. Skies will be sunny and it will be one of the last toasty days before a cooling trend and wet weather appear later in the week.

Temperatures fall slightly Tuesday and we might see a little increase in clouds. High temperatures in Santa Barbara will be near 70, while the rest of the Central Coast will be in the 60s and 70s.

Another 10 degrees or so of cooling occur Wednesday. An atmospheric river, with a decent amount of moisture, sets up and takes aim for most of the West Coast. By Wednesday night San Luis Obispo will likely see light to moderate amounts of rain. By Thursday morning, showers will spread down into Ventura county and even into LA. Rain amounts will still be tricky, but recent data shows just under 2 inches by Thursday night in Santa Barbara and Ventura and about an inch to an inch and a half elsewhere. It is still too early to confidently say this will be the outcome, but based on wind patterns and topography, expect moderate to heavy rainfall at times. Rainfall rates will likely be up to half an inch per hour at times, especially for the South Central Coast and southern facing beaches. Shower activity continues Friday morning before we dry out and have a break Saturday and Sunday. Our next round of showers will appear Monday, but this storm system is looking weaker.
