Tuesday evening forecast June 1st

A ridge of high pressure will remain across our golden state through Thursday, prompting above average temperatures especially inland. Moderate to strong onshore flow will bring night to morning clouds and slower clearing near beaches. Elevated fire weather conditions are likely across valleys due to hot temperatures, reduced relative humidity and gusty southwesterly winds.

The marine layer will be stubborn to clear for much of this week. This pattern will result in a huge variation in temperatures from the coast to valleys. Highs near the coastal areas will reach the upper 60s to low 70s, while valleys will reach the upper 80s to 90s.

Onshore gradients will prompt breezy to gusty southwesterly winds across interior sections each afternoon. Overall winds are expected to remain sub-advisory but caution is warranted due to dry fuels and warm conditions.

High pressure will weaken by the end of week, allowing onshore flow to deepen and strengthen through the weekend. This will bring a deeper marine layer, slower clearing and cooling across all areas.
