Friday morning forecast May 1st

Santa Barbara, Calif. - April has gone the way of the dodo, but the wind we had on the final day of April is the same wind we can expect on this first day of May around the California Central Coast and South Coast. The Central Coast will be slightly cooler today than yesterday, while the South Coast will warm further due to fewer clouds. Highs will range from the lower 70s to the mid 80s.

A broad trough of low pressure will remain parked over the eastern Pacific and the West Coast through the weekend and the first couple days of next week, and we can expect a daily return of the afternoon and evening wind along with fairly seasonable temperatures. A ridge of high pressure will build over California the latter half of next week, and our highs will get warmer.

Daytime highs will be within a few degrees of average through Sunday before warming much of next week. Coastal highs will be in the 60s and 70s, while the inland valleys will range from the mid 70s to near 90. Overnight lows will stay warmer than average through the first week of May, staying mainly in the 50s, but there will be a few upper 40s and a few lower 60s.
