| Why are you running for office? | I am the appointed incumbent running for this office in the June 7th Special Election. Having lived in Morro Bay for over a decade, I stepped forward for this position to continue our current Council's progress and to keep our City on track with its designated goals. |
| What makes you qualified for the job? | As a community leader, local business owner, and former Planning Commissioner, I understand what it takes to ensure the government works for the people. As a wife, mom, former teacher, and past PTA President, I have the listening ear and get-it-done attitude that make an effective leader. |
| What are your two main priorities if you win? | Climate Action Planning and Clean Energy - As a Councilmember, I have seen first-hand how Morro Bay is at the front of the climate crisis. As a Coastal Community: The ocean is one of our greatest assets, but we have to be prepared for rising sea levels and changing weather patterns. I serve on the climate sub-committee because I believe we can make a difference when we work together to create solutions. I am committed to working hard to solve our biggest challenges. Waterfront Improvements - As a Councilmember, I know that our waterfront is one of our biggest assets and economic drivers. People come from all over the world to watch the otters, eat at local restaurants, and visit local shops. It’s what gives Morro Bay our character. For too long, the waterfront has been underfunded and under-cared for. It’s time to change that. When elected to carry out the entire term, I will work hard to ensure our waterfront gets the resources and attention it needs. |
| How will you collaborate with other governments? | Since living in Morro Bay, advocating for children, city infrastructure, women’s rights, and various issues have connected me to local, County, and Congressional Elected officials. Talking to our representatives at all levels of government is something I am willing to do because certain issues call for help or collaboration with other governing agencies. Currently I am the alternate member for SLOCOG, which is a wonderful example of several governments working together. |
| What are the next two issues that are most important to you? | Housing Affordability and Supply - As a Councilmember, I have the unique perspective of being a small business owner, a current renter, and a former homeowner. Solving the housing crisis isn’t just good for local people; it’s also good for businesses who want to hire locally. The current housing crisis is detrimental to the health of our community. As a former Planning Commissioner and current Councilmember, I know what it takes to increase housing and aim to be committed to housing solutions that are the right fit for Morro Bay. Fiscal Sustainability and Economic Vitality - I will continue to support the actions our City has set forth. |
