SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Kayla Day is feeling right at home at this week's Women's Pro Invitational at the Santa Barbara Tennis Club.

The Santa Barbara lefty trains at the club and she made short work of Lorrain Guellermo 6-1, 6-4 as she improves to 2-0 during the round-robin portion of the tournament.

The semifinals of this eight player tournament are Thursday (September 24) and the finals are Friday (September 25).

Nipomo resident Sophie Whittle was upset by San Diego's Shatoo Mohamad in three sets as the former Gonzaga University star lost 6-7, 6-0, 6-7.

Whittle led the first set 5-1 but could not close it out.

The tournament 's main sponsor is Central Coast Home Health and Hospice and the prize money totals 25 thousand dollars with the winner expected to receive around ten thousand.

The tournament is closed to the general public due to Covid-19.
