Former Gaucho Kyle Nelson gets called up by the Cleveland Indians

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Kyle Nelson is going to 'The Show.'

The Cleveland Indians are promoting the left-handed reliever from its alternate camp to their Major League Baseball roster.

Nelson will be reunited with former UCSB teammate Shane Bieber who is not only Cleveland's ace but he is the top pitcher in 2020.

Bieber and Nelson room together in the off-season in Santa Barbara.

In 2016 the two former Gaucho stars helped lead UCSB to the program's first and only appearance in the College World Series.

The 24-year old Nelson had an earned run average of 2.28 last season with seven saves at three different minor league levels in the Indians organization.

He struck out 69 batters in 47 innings last year.

Nelson's best pitch is a slider especially against left-handed batters.
