Dons water polo loses on first day of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Layla Syzmczak had a hat trick in the second period to give Santa Barbara a 3-2 lead at halftime over San Clemente.

But the Tritons scored a late goal to edge the Dons 6-5 on Day 1 of the 20-team Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions in girls water polo.

Syzmczak scored 4 goals while Dons goalie Nalani Yim played a strong match.

Dos Pueblos defeated Oaks Christian 7-5.

San Marcos plays on Friday at noon at DPHS against Yucaipa.
