San Marcos wins Channel League soccer showdown against Santa Barbara

San Marcos defeats Santa Barbara 2-1 in boys soccer.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. Cade McLean broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 59th minute and San Marcos defeated Santa Barbara 2-1 to put the Royals in the driver's seat for the Channel League boys soccer title.

On a corner kick, the Royals Miguel Mondragon took a short pass and sent the ball in the box to the senior McLean who headed it past Dons keeper Erick Vasquez for the game-winning goal.

In the first half Santa Barbara's Seba Alvarez and San Marcos senior Jared Vom Steeg scored goals.

The Royals are 7-0-1 in league with two matches left while Santa Barbara is 6-1-1.
