UCSB baseball hands UCLA first loss of the season

Gauchos beat UCLA 8-5.

UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Gauchos used a 4-run fifth inning to take control of the game and knock off previously undefeated UCLA 8-5.

UCSB began the fifth inning down 4-2 but tied the game on bases loaded walks to Cole Cummings and Kyle Johnson.

Mason Marquez gave UCSB the lead for good with a 2-run single to left.

Reliever Conner Roberts pitched four innings of 2-hit shutout ball to get the win.

UCSB improved to 10-2 on the year while UCLA is now 11-1. The Bruins entered the game ranked in the top five in the country in most of the polls including #1 in one of them.
