Royals wallop Ventura on Senior Day in girls water polo

San Marcos celebrates Senior Day with a 16-3 rout of Ventura.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - San Marcos High School celebrated a fantastic senior group before their Channel League game with Ventura and the Royals kept the cheers coming as they crushed the Cougars 16-3.

The Royals saluted ten seniors, many of them are headed to top-notch universities to continue their water polo career.

Senior Kate Meyer, playing in her first game this year due to a broken finger, started the onslaught with a penalty shot.

Fellow senior Reagan McEachen scored moments later with a point blank shot.

Elaia Hamilton, who is the Royals starting goalie, played a different position and her rebound goal made it 3-0.

Ava Stryker lobbed a shot into the net to put the Royals up 4-0 and they never looked back.

They led 7-2 after one period and went on to dominate the Cougars.

San Marcos plays at Santa Barbara on Friday afternoon.
