Habitat for Humanity builds homes in Port Hueneme

PORT HUENEME, Calif. -- Port Hueneme is partnering with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County to develop new housing in the area.

After a unanimous approval vote, the City approved the agreement to sell the City-owned vacant lot for Habitat for Humanity to make a five-unit condominium project for low and moderate income families.

This City approved project will be the first in partnering with Habitat for Humanity as well as its first townhome development in Port Hueneme.

The property is located at the corner of San Pedro Street and C Street in a residential neighborhood near Naval Base Ventura County access gate on Pleasant Valley Road.

The Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity expressed how this will be another step forward in finding an innovative, cost effective housing solutions for the community.

Habitat for Humanity and the City will start their work to prepare and submit building plans for City and County approval after the formal transfer in late Spring.

The City says a ground-breaking ceremony will take place on site in 2021.
