Oxnard woman dies, 2 seriously injured after major crash on Highway 1 near Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. - California Highway Patrol officers responded to initial reports of a rollover crash at the northbound Rice Avenue/Highway 1 and Channel Islands Boulevard near Oxnard.
The call came in just before 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Ventura County firefighters responded and, upon arriving at the scene, found the crash to be a two-vehicle collision where one car ended up in a ditch.
CHP said in a news release that the cars involved were a 2000 Lexus RX300 and a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Lexus was reportedly driving northbound on Hwy 1 while the Nissan was stopped at a red stoplight also on the northbound Hwy 1 at Channel Islands Blvd.

The 41-year-old Oxnard woman who was driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, a 14-year-old boy has serious injuries and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center.
The driver of the Lexus, described as a 33-year-old woman was also transported to the hospital for serious injuries. CHP officers have placed her under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
