SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Bossie the Cow is preparing to see about her 80th graduating class of Santa Barbara High School. Generations of Dons have painted her as a prank to celebrate big wins or special events at Santa Barbara High School.

Wednesday a couple of SBHS faculty broke the mischievous tradition, and asked for permission from Bossie's newest owners, Bossie's Kitchen. They climbed to the top of Milpas and Canon Perdido Streets on Santa Barbara's Eastside and painted the cow gold with green spots.

SBHS principal, Elise Simmons, organized the project with art teachers, Brandon Teris and Jamie Davis. While tough to see from the street below, the green spots are made of all the names of the 2020 Santa Barbara High School seniors. It's a a tribute to honor those graduating. As a reminder of the times, Bossie is wearing a SBHS Senior sign around her neck and face covering over her nose and mouth.

Bossie expects to be gold for the next couple of weeks.
