3-alarm apartment fire knocked down in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. - An early morning fire forced the evacuation of residents at an apartment building in Oxnard.

A fire broke out in a vacant unit around 5 a.m. on the 1300 block of Althea Court.

Battalion Chief Steve McNaughten said the vacant unit burned a few months ago.

Firefighters knocked the blaze down quickly and are mopping up hot spots.

Nearby units had to be evacuated while firefighters battled the fire. No word when those people will be allowed back into their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
