Two arrested in connection to Monday night carjacking in Santa Maria
SANTA MARIA, Calif.– Santa Maria Police arrest two for their involvement in an armed carjacking in the 300 block of east Betteravia Monday night around 11 p.m.
The Santa Maria Police Department reported officers responded to calls of an armed carjacking involving multiple people in the area. Officers later located the stolen car near Brodway/Stowell and attempted a traffic stop, but terminated it based on the erratic driver and concern for public safety.
Law enforcement later returned to the last known location of the car on Pine and Felser following calls of people loitering around the area to find an unarmed minor in nearby bushes. The minor was found to be the driver that fled initial officers.
The 19-year-old Santa Maria male was arrested in the area due to a reverse 911 call alert and a continued search in the area.
The two were booked for carjacking, felony evading, and conspiracy to commit a felony crime.Â
Police believe two or more armed individuals were also involved and have yet to be found. The investigation is ongoing.
