Lompoc Fire performs water rescue of newborn

LOMPOC, Calif.– The Lompoc Fire Department rescued a father, mother, and newborn in the 2000 block of North H St around 11:45 a.m. who were surrounded by flooding water.

The mother actively gave birth with the father's assistance while awaiting rescue. Lompoc Fire were able to retrieve the family out of the riverbed and transport the mother and child to the Lompoc Hospital.

Both are in stable condition. Lompoc Police responded to the incident at the hospital and are investigating the case.

Officials want to remind all community members that do NOT need to travel to evacuate or for dire circumstances should not be out.
