Monday’s shooting in Lompoc leaves 32-year-old man in hospital

LOMPOC, Calif. – The Lompoc Police Department announced on Tuesday that the victim of Monday's shooting incident near Lompoc High School was a 32-year-old man.

The department also announced that the incident appeared to be gang related.

Police officers responded to the 500 block of North L street for reports of a shooting at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to police spokesman Kevin Martin.

The man who was shot was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, and was later deemed in stable condition, Martin added.

The shooting caused Lompoc High School to go into a precautionary lockdown, but Martin said that the shooting had no association with the school.

The lockdown was lifted within an hour, he added.

The investigation remained ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lompoc Police Detective Bureau at 805-875-8120.
