Monday’s shooting in Lompoc leaves 32-year-old man in hospital
LOMPOC, Calif. – The Lompoc Police Department announced on Tuesday that the victim of Monday's shooting incident near Lompoc High School was a 32-year-old man.
The department also announced that the incident appeared to be gang related.
Police officers responded to the 500 block of North L street for reports of a shooting at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to police spokesman Kevin Martin.
The man who was shot was transported by helicopter to a local hospital, and was later deemed in stable condition, Martin added.
The shooting caused Lompoc High School to go into a precautionary lockdown, but Martin said that the shooting had no association with the school.
The lockdown was lifted within an hour, he added.
