Ninth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser goes mobile amid COVID-19

5 Cities Homeless Coalition launch a mobile Empty Bowls fundraiser this year due COVID-19.

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. – The 5 Cities Homeless Coalition is kicking off its ninth annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.

The event is raising money to help families who are homeless in San Luis Obispo County.

Empty Bowls typically features people lining up and buying fresh gourmet soup and bread.

The nonprofit organization is taking safety measures to maintain the spirit of the event due to COVID-19

Residents can purchase a ticket online, drive up to the designated location and pick up a bowl handcrafted by local artisan.

"You take your bowl home, but with that, you get a coupon that you could redeem now and at the end of the year, for a bowl of soup at any of twenty restaurants," said 5 Cities Homeless Coalition Executive Director Janna Nichols

You can pick up a bowl at the follow locations:

  • Saturday, September 19, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    New Life Community Church, 990 James Way in Pismo Beach
  • Saturday, September 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    Trilogy Monarch Activity Center, 1645 Trilogy Parkway in Nipomo
