Possible Changes to Head Start Programs Raises Concern in Local Families

COMMUNIFY

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) — Local leaders are raising concerns about proposed federal changes to the Head Start program and how they could affect families across Santa Barbara County.

The proposal could change parts of the program that provides early childhood education and support services to low-income families.

CommUnify, which operates Head Start programs locally, is among those reviewing the potential impact on classrooms, children and parents.

Community members have until Tuesday to submit public comments on the proposed changes.

Local leaders are urging families and educators to learn more before the comment period closes.
