Fiesta preparations: Road closures, parking enforcement, public safety updates
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – As Old Spanish Days Fiesta approaches, the City of Santa Barbara announces information on road closures, parking enforcement, and public safety updates in preparation.
Police Presence at Fiesta
- Additional foot patrol officers will be assigned along the State Street Promenade, Funk Zone, and Waterfront.
- Starting August 2, additional traffic patrols will focus on preventing collisions and DUIs. If you see an impaired driver, call 9-1-1.
- Possession of open alcoholic beverages or consuming an alcoholic beverage in public is prohibited and can result in a citation.
- As a part of Santa Barbara's goal to be "smoke-free," smoking and electronic cigarettes in public are prohibited.
Parking Enforcement
- The city offers a free City Shuttle service for the parade.
- All parking enforcement rules and regulations, including timed zones and all other parking regulations, will be enforced throughout the City during this week.
- The only exception from timed parking is on August 4 for the Old Spanish Days Fiesta Parade in specific locations.
- No parking areas:
- Friday, August 4
- Cabrillo Blvd. - between Castillo to Corona Del Mar and surrounding streets.
- Restriction from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
- Saturday, August 5
- Cabrillo Blvd. - between Garden Street to South Milpas Street and surrounding streets.
- Restriction from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m.
- Friday, August 4

Expect heavy traffic delays throughout Fiesta.

- 6 a.m.
- Street Closure: Cabrillo Blvd. – between Castillo Street to State Street and adjoining streets in this area.
- 10:30 a.m.
- Stearns Wharf closed.
- 11 a.m.
- Street Closure: Cabrillo Blvd. – between Castillo Street and Los Patos Way and adjoining streets in this area.
- 12 p.m.
- Fiesta Parade begins.
- 4 p.m.
- Around this time, roads will re-open.
- 6 a.m.
- Saturday, August 5
- 8 a.m.
- Street Closure: Cabrillo Blvd. – between Garden Street to South Milpas Street and adjoining streets.
- 10 a.m.
- Fiesta Children's Parade begins.
- 1 p.m.
