Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office provides update in Montecito murder investigation

MONTECITO, Calif. – Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Detectives have provided an update to their request for public assistance in their investigation into the murder of Violet Evelyn Alberts including additional photos and a request from Los Angeles area residents.

Detectives shared new images from a closed-circuit video camera on Thursday with a second request for information from the public.

According to Detectives with the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office, the vehicle in question is a 2015 to 2018 white Porsche Cayenne.

Public assistance is specifically requested now from Los Angeles area residents as Detectives have discovered that the Porsche in question traveled from Los Angeles to Montecito the night of the murder detail Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office.

Any Los Angeels Area residents that may have loaned or rented their 2015 to 2018 Porche Cayenne in May of 2022 are asked to reach out to Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau at 805-681-4150.

These updates follow a request for the public's assistance on Jun. 5 of this year that included images of a vehicle believed to be involved in the homicide, a request to residents for security footage of the night in question, and the announcement of a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The agency's investigation began with a suspicious death at a home in the 900 block of Park Lane around 8:30 a.m. on May 27 of 2022.

The 96-year-old's identity was revealed following a nearly two-month-long suspicious death investigation.

The previously announced $10,000 reward leading to an arrest and conviction in this case is still outstanding.
