“Softer” California Jaywalking Law will come into effect at the start of 2023

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – A new California law will make it acceptable for pedestrians to jaywalk under certain circumstances.

At the start of 2023, Californians will not be cited for jaywalking unless it’s evident that they are creating a hazard by doing so.

Technically jaywalking will still be considered illegal, but it won’t be enforceable.

News Channel 3-12 will have more on this new law and how it will be affecting Santa Barbara.
