GOLETA, Calif. -- Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley libraries will reopen to the public on June 2.

After 15 months, the Goleta, Solvang and Buellton library branches will reopen their libraries in limited capacitiy.

“We are so excited to be reopening the library for what we are calling Express Service. Opening in a limited capacity is the first step toward a full reopening. We can’t wait to see our wonderful library users and catch up with them after this long year,” said Library Director Allison Gray.

The Express Service Library Hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library's Sidewalk Service will remain open. They are open from Wednesdays to Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those who want to quickly grab their holds without entering the building.

The library will operate first-come-first-served basis for in-person library services.

Library goers will have 15 minutes to pick out their items and check out at the self-checkout machine, use the Express computer and/or look at the Friends of the Library Book Sale.

The library says their opens will not be open.

Masks will be required and people must remain at least six feet apart.

The library will provide gloves and hand sanitizer at the entrance.

The library says the Black Gold transfer system will currently be on hold due to the funding being slashed during the 2020/2021 Fiscal Year. They say they will not know what will happen for the Fiscal Year of 2021/2022 beginning on July 1, 2021.
