Jeweler robbed in parking lot of Santa Barbara grocery store

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The Santa Barbara Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at the Trader Joe's parking lot.

On Tuesday at around 4 p.m., police responded to reports of an armed robbery at Trader Joe's on the 200 block of North Milpas Street in Santa Barbara.

At arrival, they made contact with the victim, a wholesale jeweler from out of town.

The victim says they were robbed at gunpoint while in the car.

They reported that a large amount of jewelry was taken during the robbery.

Police say the suspects appeared to be targeting the victim and have knowledge of the jewelry in the victim's possession.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
