13 for 13 fundraiser for Gwendolyn’s Playground
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Groups of people in Santa Barbara and beyond will be on the move this weekend to raise money for a future inclusive playground named after Gwendolyn Strong.
The 13 for 13 fundraiser is a fun way for people to ride 13 miles on Gwendolyn Strong's 13th birthday which is Sunday, October 4.
Gwendolyn passed away at the age of 7 in 2015 after a courageous battle with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
The Santa Barbara girl inspired people to Never Give Up.
The Gwendolyn Strong Foundation is raising five million dollars for Santa Barbara's first and only truly inclusive playground where everyone can play including the one in four of us living with a disability.
The playground will be located at Dwight Murphy Field.
Close to one million dollars has been raised for Gwendolyn's Playground and this Sunday they are hoping to raise 13,000 in the 13 for 13 fundraiser.
13 thousand dollars would pay for the first inclusive swing set at the playground.
