Vandenberg Air Force Base reopens beaches with end of snowy plover season

LOMPOC, Calif. -- Vandenberg Air Force Base is reopening three beaches after the end of annual restrictions due to small birds known as "snowy plovers."

VAFB reopened all sections of Surf, Wall and Minuteman beaches on Tuesday.

Beach restrictions are enforced every year on the beaches through September 20 to protect the endangered bird.
