SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -- Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office reports one remaining active COVID-19 case on Tuesday.

County Sheriff's Office says all of their inmates but one have recovered from COVID-19.

The inmates were previously tested positive for COVID-19 between August 24 to September 7. The majority of these cases were said to be asymptomatic.

During the active cases, all inmates in the jail were tested with over 500 tests being completed.

The remaining active COVID-19 case is being medically isolated in a negative pressure cell. The Sheriff's Office says they are regularly being monitored.

Sheriff Brown gave the following statement on this recovery:

“I want to thank our WellPath healthcare partners, Custody staff, the County’s Public Health Department and our inmates for their efforts in controlling this outbreak within the jail. Their remarkable collective efforts resulted in the rapid containment of the virus. We continue to take every reasonable precaution possible to maintain the safety of those who are in our custody and care, as well as our employees and contract staff.”
