SANTA BARBARA, Calif.

The Cave Fire jumped Highway 154 on the Monday before Thankgiving and damaged guardrails.

CalTrans Public Information Officer Jim Shivers said, "Caltrans will be perfomring guardrail damaged in this fire as well as repairs to some of the plastic drainage pipes and this will be going on over the next several days."

The road has been heavily used by firefighters and trucks hauling dirt out of the San Antonio Creek Debris Basin before the rain.

A cyclist checking out the area said it look a lot better after what she said looked like "armageddon."

Evacuees were allowed back in on Wednesday and seem to understand the need to make repairs before opening it up to through traffic.
