San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors District 2 election recount terminated
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– The San Luis Obispo County clerk-recorder announced the election recount for the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors District 2 race has been terminated.
SLO resident Darcia Stebbens called for a recount in the race on behalf of Bruce Jones after 13 votes separated Jones from the win vs. incumbent Bruce Gibson.
"Earlier this month, Elaina Cano, the SLO County Clerk-Recorder, reported and certified that Bruce Gibson received thirteen votes more than I did in the District 2 Supervisor's election. An examination of the election process / partial recount has been in process since December 19 by an election integrity group led by Darcia Stebbens, CPA. This audit was discontinued on December 29.

I want to thank all the people who contributed to my campaign with their time, money and effort. I also want to thank the people in District 2 who voted for me and the people who tried to vote for me on November 8 in person at their precincts but were disenfranchised from voting the way they wanted to vote.
I will continue to champion fiscally responsible, corruption-free County government."
Stebbens held financial responsibility to cover the cost of the manual recount process and had to provide an advance deposit of close to $17,000. The deposit was never received and via the request has terminated the recount.
"I am incredibly grateful to all of the election staff and observers who gave their time unselfishly to this process," said SLO county Clerk-Recorder Elaina Cano.
SLO County District 2 Supervisor-Elect Bruce Gibson provided the following statement to KEYT news.
"I’m very pleased to hear news that the recount has been terminated. This is a huge win for our local democracy — so many engaged voters stood strong and gave voice to their desire for a local government that will get things done. I’m deeply grateful to SLO County voters for their support and to our county's election staff for their determination and commitment to running our elections with the highest integrity."
