Crews lay down high-speed fiber optic cable in ocean, connecting Grover Beach to Asia

GROVER BEACH, Calif. -- Grover Beach will have a special connection to overseas countries.

On Friday, Grover Beach laid down a transoceanic fiber optic cable connecting the Central Coast with Singapore.

The cable and future cables will connect Grover Beach to Asia and will help ensure high speed internet connectivity for homes and businesses in the area.

This is part of the City's partnership with Digital West, a fiber broadband network.

Grover Beach says they are proud of this partnership and the City for being a hub for business and international business.

The City says this will prime them for economic development opportunities for technology companies in the coastal community.
